Dale & Casey's Wedding - Bar Harbor Maine

September 19, 2009

And on to the main event - Dale and Casey's wedding! After several days of touring Boston and playing in Acadia National Park, we met up with friends to celebrate Dale and Casey! They both worked at Acadia several years ago, and met there and got engaged in the park. They thought it was only fitting to come back there to get married. A great way to share their special place with friends... and for all of us to take a vacation!

The wedding was in a cute, simple, little church in Southwest Harbor

Such pretty decor

A fitting groom's cake for a park ranger, don't you think?

Acadia National Park on Bike

Sept. 16-20, 2009

So, I had WAY too many pictures to fit them into one, or two, or three posts, so here's yet another of our day on bikes. We rented some mountain bikes in Southwest Harbor and took them over to the park to ride the famous carriage trails through the main section of the park. We covered lots of ground and had a lot of fun!

Here are some pictures throughout the day...

Here's a (rather icky) picture of us mid-rid

We pedaled up a mountain, ouch, but were rewarded with this great scenery

Sept. 16-20, 2009

After are frightening first hike we found a slightly better path to follow that afternoon. Much easier going with some really fantastic views!

We had some nice lighting as the sun started going down...

After the hike we stopped briefly at this little beach

Acadia National Park- Bar Harbor Maine (Part 1)

Sept. 16-20, 2009

On our first bid day at Acadia, we set off on a hike recommended by Dale. As it turns out, this was NOT the hike for us. We're a bit afraid of heights and had no idea that we would be climbing up boulders, shimmying along a cliffside and facing some old wire rung ladders up it's face. Yeah, we went almost all the way before we had enough and turned back. Wimps, I know, but we tried something more low key later on. ;)

A classic view of the park

A scary climb, but some great views!

The "path"

How sturdy does this look, ah!

Hike #2 tomorrow - too many good pictures to squeeze into one post. :)
